Wintry Potpourri in February
On a hot afternoon in February under the glorious cool airconditioning, the ladies of Clanwilliam VLV at the home of Mrs.. Alida Stone came together - all dressed in white to symbolize snow. Members milk had a "heart thing" bring the winter and tell why the article is important to them in the winter. There were hats, nice coffee, thick books, red lipstick, scarves, gloves, skaapvelpantoffels, cozy blankets and a heater.
Mr. Jaco Slabber, chef and owner of the local Olifants House Restaurant, a demonstration of a cold soup, cucumber and garlic, milk is given. While preparing the soup, he worked in an ice cream machine vanillaroomys with banana and peanut butter. He made a prior avokadoroomys that he sat with shrimp. A spicy rooibos and speseryroomys was on the menu. The highlight was when he made a Baked Alaska dessert. Before our eyes an ordinary sponge milk cake, jam and a bowl of hard frozen ice cream, topped with bland meringue transformed into a beautiful "snow mountain" of goodness. When the hard-frozen ice cream covered with meringue, serve as insulator for the ice cream and meringue can be baked in a hot oven. However, our chef using a blow torch to cook the egg white and allow to color.
When making homemade milk ice cream, it is important to regularly agitated milk to prevent the formation of ice crystals. It is very easy if you have an ice cream machine. It is, however, expensive. That is, with a little more effort, possibly to make equally good ice cream now and then to stir it yourself. Creative work with the flavor of the ice cream. Anything you like!
During the meeting, the local gym, Fitness Fusion, instructor addressed the ladies. Except that exercise is essential in weight loss, it is important to eat five times a day. Between breakfast and lunch and between milk lunch and dinner, a healthy snack is taken to keep the metabolism going. This is especially important for people over 40, because as you get older, slow down the metabolism. She also stressed that step of the best exercise you can do and you can do it until you are old.
During the meeting, 11 women receive membership badges. Mrs. Augusta Nel badge for her 60 year member of LOA. The branch is very proud of her. She was a faithful member in terms of attendance and involvement. Badges of 10, 15, 20, 30 and 40 years were also awarded.
